Independent science fiction continues to push the boundaries of storytelling with Lars Shrike Walks the Night, the latest feature from writer and director Gary Walkow. Distributed in the United States by Filmhub, the film made its digital debut on July 24, bringing Walkow’s latest mystery-thriller to audiences nationwide.

Leading the cast is six-time Emmy Award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frasier), who takes on the enigmatic title role of Lars Shrike. The film follows its world premiere at the Lone Star Film Festival, where Walkow received the Best Feature Film award.

Lars Shrike Walks the Night

Lars Shrike Walks the Night expands Walkow’s loosely connected cinematic universe that began with the 1987 Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning The Trouble with Dick. David Clennon, who portrayed Lars in the original film, returns to the franchise as Richard Kendred, continuing a story that also includes Crashing (2007) and The Trouble with Dot & Harry (2015).

Joining Grammer and Clennon are Christine Lin (Surfside Girls) and Kati Schwartz, who will next appear in The Adventures of Cliff Booth.

Viewers can now rent or purchase Lars Shrike Walks the Night in Digital HD through platforms including Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.

Speaking about the film ahead of its digital release, Walkow said:

“My science fiction thriller is about the terrors and thrills of existence. Lars Shrike escapes from a prison planet—or does he? Is Lars Shrike delusional, an amnesiac, or from outer space? I want viewers to experience the mystery and drama of Lars’ slippery, confounding existence.”

Lars Shrike Walks The Night

The film centers on Lars Shrike, a man who knows only two things: his name and that he has escaped. Alone in a desolate desert landscape, he struggles to reconstruct his identity while confronting fragmented memories, hallucinations, and an increasingly uncertain reality. As his journey unfolds, the line between truth and illusion continues to blur, leaving audiences to question whether Lars is an escaped prisoner, a man suffering from a fractured mind, or something even more extraordinary.

Blending psychological mystery with science fiction, Lars Shrike Walks the Night offers an existential puzzle that invites viewers to piece together its reality alongside its mysterious protagonist.
