Joker John Carpenter

John Carpenter and Anthony Burch are celebrating DC Comics’ “Year of the Villain” by collaborating on a one-shot 40-page Joker comic.

The Joker: Year of the Villain, featuring artwork by Philip Tan and Marc Deering, will hit shelves October 9, 2019 according to Entertainment Weekly.

Carpenter and Burch previously collaborated on Boom! Studio’s Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack miniseries.

DC’s “Year of the Villain” finds Lex Luthor becoming an alien hybrid and convincing humanity that the only way to better themselves is by embracing their darkest urges. Luthor getting all of that attention just doesn’t seem to sit right with the Joker.

Would you really expect anything less?

The Joker: Year of the Villain will naturally find the Clown Prince of Crime setting out to prove he’s still the baddest villain on the planet!

Carpenter said he was proud to be work with Burch again, and especially on a book about the “greatest villain in comics.”

Mark your calendars for October 9, 2019. This will be a must-have for Carpenter fans and fans of the Joker, as well.

‘Fear’ Trailer Introduces an Entity That Makes Your Worst Fears Come True

Fear

Deon Taylor is severely underrated as a director and producer. His work has been a penchant of horror, thriller and social commentary that is absolutely biting. These have included Fatale, Black and Blue, The Intruder, Traffik, and more. His latest film, Fear takes a group of friends on a vacation who come across an entity that is capable of making your worse fears come true.

Taylor’s work is a tapestry of a throwback to grindhouse thrillers combined with a strong current of the strongest of black filmmaking voices in the 1970s. I’m always on the lookout for what Taylor is up to next.

The synopsis for Fear goes like this:

In this psychological horror film, a group of friends gather for a much-needed weekend getaway at a remote and historic hotel.  Celebration turns into terror as one by one, each guest faces their own worst fear.

The film stars Joseph Sikora Andrew Bachelor, Annie Ilonzeh, Ruby Modine, Iddo Goldberg, Terrence Jenkins, Jessica Allain and TIP “T.I.” HARRIS.

Fear arrives in theaters beginning January 27.

Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest offering takes us through another landscape of pure violence and the supernatural. Copenhagen Cowboy is incredibly stylized and full of artful shots.
