Joe Dante (Small Soldiers) is a legend in the horror community. He is responsible for getting many people into the horror genre with such films as Gremlins, Gremlins 2, The Howling, and The Burbs.

These low stakes horror films provide just enough cheese and camp to be entertaining to non-horror fans. An article out of Deadline today states that Joe is getting behind the directing chair once again.

Gremlins, Joe Dante

This time around, Joe Dante will be working on a reboot of the 1960 cult classic Little Shop of Horrors. The film’s original creator, Roger Corman (Frankenstein Unbound), is attached as a producer to the reboot.

This has all the makings for horror greatness. The new film will be titled Little Shop of Halloween Horrors, and its script is written by the fantastic Charles S. Hass (Matinee), who penned the infamous Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

Not much is known about the film at this time. However, Deadline states that the film will be “A reimagining intended to jumpstart a new franchise.” Thats not surprising considered the film will include powerhouses like Joe Dante and Roger Corman.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have at this time. Make sure to check back here for news and updates. While you wait, why not spend some time with the classic film that started it all. Check out the trailer for Little Shop of Horrors below.
