When JJ Abrams dropped the beautiful bomb that the movie he was secretly working we only knew to be called “The Cellar”, was actually another film set in the Cloverfield universe and in the end titled 10 Cloverfield Lane, all the fuzzies came flowing inside my ghoulish heart as I have some weird fascination with the curiosity and thrill that surrounds this alternate dimension of sorts.Well ladies and gents, Abrams has done it again, confirming via The Wrap that indeed the film entitled God Particle, is very much the third Cloverfield film.

What a gorgeous Halloween surprise!

Fans and critics suspected some time ago that the mysterious God Particle could be connected to both Cloverfield films prior, but the production company Bad Robot kept its lips sealed and never confirmed on the fan theory, until now. The third film that will serve as another step-sister to 2008’s Cloverfield, God Particle centers on a team of astronauts who make a shocking discovery and fight for survival in what they describe as an altered reality. The script is penned by Oren Uziel and directed by Julis Onah (The Girl is in Trouble).

The fact that God Particle is basically Cloverfield 3, may not be the biggest news to come out of this, but the fact that an insider from Paramount told The Wrap that indeed Abrams and the production company ARE quietly making more films set in the Cloverfield universe as we speak! The plan is for Abrams to release a new film each year that throws back to Cloverfield, possibly putting together a giant puzzle of this ever so curious universe that may ultimately answer any burning questions from viewers.

They said a new Cloverfield movie every year! I’m dancing the horror jig of glee..

The film that stars stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd is set to hit theaters nationwide this February 24, 2017.
