‘Jaws’ IMAX Trailer Proves The Blockbuster Needs a Bigger Boat and Bigger Screen

Published

Jaws

Jaws is easily one of the best films of all time. Hands down, Steven Speilberg managed to create a film that was better in spite of its faults. It also managed to scare the hell out of humanity. What Psycho did for the shower, Jaws did for the ocean and even swimming pools, oddly enough. I still know folks that are scared of getting into large swimming pools thanks to Jaws. It makes no sense.

“Universal is honored to have been a part of so many extraordinary, unforgettable Steven Spielberg films over the past 47 years, including Jaws in 1975, E.T. in 1982 and Jurassic Park in 1993,” said Jim Orr, president of domestic theatrical distribution for Universal Pictures. “No filmmaker, it’s fair to say, has had a greater or more enduring impact on American cinema or has created more indelible cinematic memories for tens of billions of people worldwide. We couldn’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate the anniversary of E.T. and the first Universal-Spielberg summer blockbuster, Jaws, than to allow audiences to experience these films in a way they’ve never been able to before.”

“IMAX is thrilled to partner with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment to offer audiences the opportunity to experience these two iconic films in IMAX for the very first time,” said Megan Colligan, President of IMAX Entertainment. “Steven Spielberg redefined modern cinema and ushered in a new era of bold, swing-for-the-fences filmmaking, and the IMAX Experience has expanded around the world because of the trail blazed by films like E.T. and Jaws.”

Jaws is ready to eat up the IMAX screen beginning September 2. Head over HERE to pick up tickets once they go up for sale.

Jaws redefined what it means to be a summer-event blockbuster and now for the first time ever audiences can experience Steven Spielberg’s motion picture classic in 3D,” added Travis Reid, CEO & President, Cinema, RealD. “Everything that made Jaws a sensation and a fan favorite for nearly 50 years will be enhanced in RealD 3D, allowing fans a completely new opportunity to immerse themselves in one of the greatest summer suspense thrillers of all time.”

Showtime Confirms Both ‘Dexter: Origins’ and More ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Published

on

Dexter is coming back to Showtime. Despite the character meeting his demise, the network is still betting on two new series to bring fans in to watch. Dexter: Origins will focus on the fly-by-night serial killer in his youth. The series will reveal Dexter’s early days working with Miami Metro. It will also showcase younger versions of characters that we came to love. It is also being reported that characters like The Trinity Killer will make an appearance as well as a whole lot more.

The sky is the limit in terms of the direction that we can go in. However, this will entirely recast Michael C. Hall’s famous character. I’m not sure fans are ready for that kind of change at this point. It feels entirely too soon. But, who knows? We will have to wait and see.

In addition to Dexter: Origins and watching a younger Morgan in Miami Metro, we also have a continuation of Dexter: New Blood. This one will once again bring about Dexter’s son, Harrison following the events of that unexpected finale.

From what I recall, Harrison didn’t have a lot of fans but nonetheless, Showtime is doubling down on the character with a huge gamble. This will see Harrison return to New York City and find that he is plagued with the Dark Passenger just like dear ole’ dad. This will ultimately see the apple fall not very far from the tree.

Are you excited about Dexter: Origins and Dexter: New Blood? I’m really not a fan of Dexter: New Blood continuing the title of Michael C. Hall’s character without Hall being the focus of the series. I digress. Which are you looking forward to? Or… do you think that it is time for Dexter to hang things up and call it quits.

‘Scream 6’ Receives Longest Runtime of the Entire Franchise and 3D Release

Scream 6

Scream 6 is on its way back to theaters. A new and more relentless Ghostface is coming with it and this time you can see him in 3D. Early ticket booking is showing a 3D and 4DX option in many locations.

Be sure to check the theater nearest you to see if they are offering that option. Some of the listings we’ve seen mentioned a 3D “Fan Event”. At this time we’re not sure if this 3D option will be just for one night, or for the entire theatrical run. We are awaiting further clarification.

The first trailer revealed a very different approach to Sceam and its killer. This includes a public slaying featuring Ghostface using a shotgun to dispatch his enemies. Now, nobody is safe at anytime, anywhere you are in New York, you can be attacked. The approach to Ghostface isn’t the only thing that has changed. This Scream also features the longest runtime of any other runtime in the franchise.

The latest Scream clocks in at 2 hours and 3 minutes long. It doesn’t beat the other runtimes by very long, but it still does manage to be the longest entry yet.

That really doesn’t come as surprise these days. It seems like every movie we see is aiming to get a longer and longer runtime. Everything from James Bond films to Batman films are hitting record lengths. I suppose that is a natural reaction to keep up with the storytelling that is allowed in the format of the TV series.

The film stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Dermot Mulroney, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, and Henry Czerny.

The synopsis for Scream VI goes like this:

Four survivors of the original Ghostface killings attempt leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start.

Scream VI arrives in theaters beginning March 10, 2023.
