It seems that the Wednesday phenomenon transcends beyond the fringe of pop culture and into the sports world; the figure skating world at least.
Figure skater Kamila Valieva, 16, incorporated the now famous viral Wednesday dance (made relevant by Jenna Ortega in the show) into her routine at the 2023 Russian Figure Staking Championships, and Tik Tok just can’t get enough. The social media platform has been inundated with these types of recreations from creators, but never — as far as we can tell — has it ever been performed on ice.
Valieva, dressed in Wednesday garb, starts out her performance with the original needle drop from the Netflix series: The Cramps’ Goo Goo Muck. Then as if to pay homage to the many creators who have taken over Tik Tok with their clever renditions, the skater transitions into the ubiquitous viral double-time version of Lady Gaga’s song Bloody Mary.

Even though her performance was enough to bring the audience to their feet with cheers and applause, Valieva finished second, just behind 15-year-old Sofia Akateva.
Take a look at her performance below and tell us if she should have taken home the gold:
