David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills is almost here. It’s so close that we can almost smell the blood and popcorn. Corn syrup blood, of course. To help with that wait till Friday, we have a little behind the scenes action to get a closer look at what is going on in the town of Haddonfield this time around.
The closer look involves the deep dive that David Gordon Green wanted to take this time around to get to the core of a town’s trauma and that reaction to fear with violence. Sound familiar? It totally should, the rabid crowd chanting “USA” over and over again looking for mob justice sure doesn’t seem to far away.
Best of all, if you listen to Judy Greer, you know that this film is going to be all about “non-stop blood and action”. We can totally get behind that sort of thing. But, its also nice to know that the film isn’t coming at us with pure pointless blood and guts. That sort of thing is great and all but, I like that there is a bit of shades of social commentary about a countries reaction to fear with extreme violence.
