Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is turning up in Fortnite on October 1, and the animatronics inside are not set dressing. Epic Games confirmed the Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover on Sunday with a 41-second reveal that opens Fortnitemares 2026, the battle royale’s annual Halloween takeover.
The reveal is built around the Fazbear band and the pizzeria they play in, both dropped onto Fortnite’s island. Epic’s announcement puts it plainly: “The Fazbear Band has taken over Battle Royale. Face the animatronic animal bosses and survive the night… if you can.”
The Animatronics Are Bosses, Not Skins
Turning Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy into boss encounters instead of another rack of costumes is the right instinct, and it is the reason this collaboration has a chance of playing as horror rather than as merchandise. Five Nights at Freddy’s has never been a franchise about who you get to be. It is about what is standing in the doorway when the power runs out, and a boss fight translates that better than a skin ever could.
Cosmetics are coming as well. Dataminer HYPEX, whose Fortnite file pulls are widely followed, has listed outfits for all four animatronics with damaged “Withered” alternate styles, character-specific back bling, instrument pickaxes and a set of emotes. Epic has not itemized any of that, so the specifics stay leaks until the item shop opens.
Freddy Fazbear Has Had a Very Good Two Years
Scott Cawthon’s point-and-click game arrived in 2014 with one room, a handful of cameras and no way to fight back, and the franchise has spent the decade since turning into one of horror’s most reliable earners. Emma Tammi’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 took $239.6 million worldwide after its December 5, 2025 opening, ahead of the first film, and Universal and Blumhouse have yet to date a third.

The brand is leaving screens entirely, too. A working Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, animatronics included, is scheduled to open to the public in 2027. Fortnite is the version that arrives first.

Fortnitemares runs through Halloween. The open question is whether the pizzeria stays on the island once the event closes, because Epic has kept collaboration landmarks around before, and a haunted restaurant is a better long-term fit for Fortnite than most of what the game has borrowed.
