An insurance investigator sets out to prove that a haunted house did not kill a couple, and then he starts seeing things for himself. That is Every House Is Haunted, the Sam Raimi-produced ghost story that 20th Century Studios has bought out of Netflix, where the script had been sitting since 2021.

Adam Schindler and Brian Netto are directing. The pair made Don’t Move, the survival thriller that left Kelsey Asbille on a forest floor with a paralytic working through her bloodstream while Finn Wittrock waited for it to finish, which Netflix put out on October 25, 2024. They take over from Corin Hardy, who had been attached since 2021.

Raimi and These Two Keep Ending Up in the Same Room

This is the third project the three of them have shared. Schindler and Netto directed episodes of Raimi’s Quibi anthology 50 States of Fright, and he produced Don’t Move with Zainab Azizi, the same partner credited on this one. Before Netflix came calling they were working small: Netto directed the found-footage demonic pregnancy picture Delivery: The Beast Within in 2013, from a script he wrote with Schindler.

The Film Is One Story Out of Twenty-Two

What is being filmed is “The House on Ashley Avenue,” a single entry in Ian Rogers’ 2012 collection Every House Is Haunted, which runs 22 stories deep. Starlight optioned the whole book and holds a financing deal with Raimi, which is why the movie carries the collection’s name rather than the story’s.

“Ian is a fantastic storyteller of horror,” Raimi has said of Rogers. “I knew the moment I finished reading Every House Is Haunted that Ian was someone I wanted to work with.” Rogers is credited as an executive producer on the film.

20th Century’s Second Raimi Package in Twelve Days

The same studio picked up a 99 Nights in the Forest movie with Raimi producing on September 18. Here he produces with Azizi for Raimi Productions, with Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment and Andrew Childs executive producing. Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman wrote the script that started the whole thing moving.

No cast has been announced and there is no release date yet. A script that waited five years for a studio to want it now has one that does.
