David Gordon Green’s trilogy for The Exorcist kicked off production earlier this year. While things were going along fantastically and production was well underway, it seems that progress has come to a halt. Deadline reports that the film took an unexpected hiatus for the holidays. There aren’t any concrete details apart from star Leslie Odom Jr. reportedly having some unspecified health issues.
The hope here is that Odom will be back along with the rest of the cast in January.
We couldn’t help but recall all of the issues that plagued the first Exorcist film.
If you recall, the original Exorcist was deemed a “cursed” film due to the sheer number of unfortunate events that struck the cast and crew during production.
The Exorcist is set to arrive in theaters beginning October 13, 2023.
The synopsis for The Exorcist goes like this:
One of the most profitable horror movies ever made, this tale of an exorcism is based loosely on actual events. When young Regan (Linda Blair) starts acting odd — levitating, speaking in tongues — her worried mother (Ellen Burstyn) seeks medical help, only to hit a dead end. A local priest (Jason Miller), however, thinks the girl may be seized by the devil. The priest makes a request to perform an exorcism, and the church sends in an expert (Max von Sydow) to help with the difficult job.
