Camp Crystal Lake is opening early. You just have to be willing to walk into it at New York Comic Con.

Peacock is setting up a Crystal Lake activation at NYCC to promote its upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series.

The pitch is simple. Peacock says the experience transports attendees back to the 1970s, to a Camp Crystal Lake that still looks idyllic. Then it asks the obvious question: will you survive your camp counselor orientation?

Volunteering to be a counselor at Camp Crystal Lake has never once worked out for anybody. It’s nice to see the tradition continue.

What’s actually at the booth

Peacock is describing it as a free interactive experience built around that counselor orientation. The announced elements are:

  • in-world Crystal Lake thrills
  • Camp Crystal Lake photo opportunities
  • branded giveaways

That’s the full list Peacock has shared. It hasn’t announced specific scares, cast appearances or a certain hockey-masked guest, so go in expecting orientation and photo ops rather than a full slasher reenactment.

It’s free for NYCC attendees.

Where and when

The activation is at the Javits Center, Booth 1359. It runs:

  • Thursday, October 8: 10 AM to 7 PM
  • Friday, October 9: 10 AM to 7 PM
  • Saturday, October 10: 10 AM to 7 PM
  • Sunday, October 11: 10 AM to 5 PM

Orientation opens October 8. Crystal Lake opens October 15 on Peacock.
