AMC has released the first promo for FearFest 2026, and while the montage is stuffed with the usual October suspects, one face in it does not belong to a slasher at all. The Crypt Keeper is in there.
That is the part worth talking about.
FearFest is expected to kick off October 1, 2026 across AMC and AMC+, with the complete programming lineup still to be announced. So we are working from a teaser here, not a schedule.
Update, September 21: AMC has since confirmed the Crypt Keeper, voiced by John Kassir, is the official host of FearFest 2026, with Tales from the Crypt marathons on the schedule. Full details here.

Why the Crypt Keeper Cameo Matters

Tales from the Crypt spent decades as one of horror’s great availability headaches. If you wanted the HBO anthology, you were hunting DVD sets, taping reruns, or making peace with whatever gray market upload had not been pulled down yet. The show did not reach streaming at all until this year, when Shudder began rolling out all seven seasons on May 1, one season a week through June 12.
Shudder sits under the same corporate roof as AMC. So the Crypt Keeper turning up in an AMC promo is not a random needle drop. It reads like two halves of the same company introducing themselves.
Worth being clear about what we do not know. AMC has not confirmed which episodes are involved, when they would air, or whether anything resembling a marathon is on the table. The promo puts him on screen. Everything past that is us hoping.
For a series that was functionally impossible to watch legally for years, though, “he showed up in the ad” still counts as a development.
The Rest of the Promo

The movie side of the teaser is roughly what you would expect from FearFest, which is to say enormous and a little unhinged in its range.
Halloween (1978), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), The Shining (1980), The Thing (1982), The Exorcist, and Child’s Play (1988) all turn up, which covers the bedrock. The Fly (1986) and IT (2017) are there for anyone who wants their horror gooier or more recent. Freddy vs. Jason and The Cabin in the Woods handle the fun end of the shelf.
And then there is Eight Legged Freaks, sharing a promo with The Exorcist, because FearFest has never once pretended to be curated. That is genuinely part of the charm.
The Crypt Keeper showing up is already a pretty good reason to start clearing space on the DVR. We will have to wait for AMC’s full schedule to see exactly how much Tales from the Crypt we are actually getting.
