What we do with it

Tips are read and assessed like any other lead. We verify before we publish, and we protect the identity of anyone who asks us to. Criticism of our coverage goes to the writer and editor involved. Requests to correct the record are handled under our Corrections Policy.

What we can’t do

We cannot promise to cover every tip or respond to every message. We do not remove accurate reporting because a subject dislikes it, and we do not take down published articles on request unless they are factually wrong.
