It hasn’t been that long since Valentine’s Day so you might appreciate this comedic take on A Nightmare on Elm Street. The co-producer of the Terrifier movies, Michael Leavy, plays the iconic monster in a parody with a hook-up twist.

Leavy is no stranger to horror, he has directed, produced and starred in many shorts and feature length films that celebrate the genre. He shares a striking resemblance to original Freddy Krueger actor, Robert Englund, so his portrayal of him in this short seems predestined (the heavy make up hides a bit of the uncanny characteristics). And yes, that’s Leavy’s actual voice on the phone.

Robert Englund & Michael Leavy

“This is something I have always wanted to attempt,” Leavy says. “I have been a huge fan of Robert’s forever and he’s a huge reason I got into filmmaking and horror in the first place, so to be able to bring one of the best slashers back to life in my own way while paying homage and to do it with the hilariously talented Seashelves Productions was a dream come true!”

The short follows an older man sporting a Depp-era crop top who gets a DM on a dating app from a guy named “Fredrick.” Impressed by his flirting technique he agrees to meet Fredrick at a “boiler room on Elm Street.” You will have to watch and see what happens next. We will say that Freddy is in “top” form.

Leavy seems born to play Krueger with his doppelgänger features and spot-on voice acting. “I hear they may be looking for a new Freddy to take on the mantle,” he says, adding, “one can dream can’t he?”
