How the Arcade Works
Six horror games. A new puzzle in every one of them at midnight, your time. No account, no app, no cost — open the page and play.
The Games
Grave Patience
Solitaire, dealt fresh dailyKlondike solitaire played with a deck drawn for this site — four horror suits, and every court card its own piece of art.
- It plays the way solitaire always has. Build the columns down in alternating colours, build the four foundations up from the ace, and only a king can open an empty column.
- The suits are Blood and Bone in red, Claw and Blade in black, so the colours read the way a normal deck does.
- Every deal is checked before it ships, so the hand you are given today can definitely be won.
Dreadle
A daily mystery word gameA daily mystery word game where every answer comes from horror. You get six guesses at one five-letter word.
- Answers are horror words, films, characters, filmmakers, creatures and places — SATAN, RABID, CRYPT, that kind of thing.
- Guesses have to be real five-letter words, so you can open with anything.
- Stuck after two guesses? Reveal the category for a nudge.
The Crypt Crossword
A new grid dailyA 7×7 midi crossword you can finish with your coffee. Click a square, type, and the highlighted clue tells you what you are filling in.
- Click a square twice, or press the arrow key, to switch between Across and Down.
- Four to eight answers each day are horror. The rest is ordinary English, so the crossings always give you a way in.
- The … menu will check a letter, check a word, or reveal an answer outright. Revealed squares turn green.
The Dark Hunt
Word searchTen hidden words, one theme, twelve by twelve. Drag across a word to claim it.
- Words run forwards, backwards, up, down and diagonally.
- The theme changes daily — slashers one day, Universal monsters the next, then sci-fi horror, killer animals, haunted houses.
- Spaces in a title are closed up: Lost Boys hides as LOSTBOYS.
Flappy Bat
One buttonGuide the bat through the crypt gates. Tap, click or hit space to flap. That is the whole game.
- Every gate you clear is a point. Touch a gate, the ceiling or the ground and you are done.
- Everyone flies the exact same course on the same day, so a score is worth comparing.
- Fly as many times as you like — the course only changes at midnight.
Bloodline
Merge puzzleSlide the whole crypt one direction at a time. When two of the same creature collide they breed into the next one up the chain.
- Arrow keys or W A S D on a keyboard, or a swipe in any direction on a phone.
- Twelve tiers, rat to the Devil. You score whatever a merge creates.
- Everyone gets the same crypt each day, so replaying it is practice rather than a reroll.
One Puzzle a Day, the Same for Everyone
Every game picks its puzzle from the date itself. That means the word you are guessing is the word everyone else is guessing that day, and all six games roll over together at midnight in your own time zone — not ours. Leave a page open past midnight and it will quietly hand you the new puzzle.
There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install. Your streak, your stats and any half-finished board live in your own browser, which does mean a different phone or a private window starts you fresh.
Sharing Your Score
Finish any game and the share button opens a sheet with buttons for X, Facebook, Reddit, Bluesky, Threads and WhatsApp, plus Copy result for pasting anywhere else. Dreadle shares as the coloured grid, so nobody sees the answer.
Save image draws a square card of your result with iHorror.com/arcade across the bottom — handy for Instagram or a group chat. On a phone it goes straight to your share menu; on a computer it downloads.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. All four games, every day, no account and no payment. Ads on the page pay for it.
Do I need to know a lot about horror?
Less than you would think. Dreadle mixes plain horror words in with the film titles and characters, and the crossword is mostly everyday English with horror seeded through it. The word search is the most film-heavy of the four.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes — all four are built for touch first, with an on-screen keyboard where one is needed.
Can I play yesterday’s puzzle?
Not yet. Each puzzle lives for its day and then makes way for the next one.
Will the same answer come round again?
Eventually, but not soon. Dreadle alone has 202 answers that reshuffle each time it works through the list, and the crossword has a library of more than 700 pre-built grids.
