How to Play the Crypt Crossword
A 7×7 midi crossword with a fresh grid every day – small enough to finish with a coffee, but not a pushover.
- Click a square and start typing. The highlighted clue above the grid tells you which answer you are filling in.
- Click the same square again, or use the arrow keys, to switch between Across and Down. Tab jumps to the next clue.
- The … menu will check a single letter, check the whole word, or reveal an answer outright. Revealed squares turn green so you can see what you were given.
- Your time runs while you solve, and you can share it when the last square goes in.
Questions
How much of it is horror?
Four to eight answers a day. The rest is ordinary English, which is deliberate – the crossings always give you a way into the horror clues even if the film is one you have never seen.
Can I check my answers as I go?
Yes. Check a letter or a word from the … menu at any point, or reveal an answer if a corner has you stuck.
How often does the grid change?
Every day at midnight, your time. Everyone gets the same grid on the same day.
Will grids repeat?
Not for a very long time. There is a library of more than 700 pre-built grids, and they reshuffle each time the rotation works through it.
