Blue Ruin is about a vagrant who learns that the man who murdered his parents is set to be released from prison. The man then attempts to even the score by taking revenge on the killer and his family. Blue Ruin is the 2013 film from Jeremy Saulnier, who would go on to make Green Room a couple of years later, and it’s full of his same signature brutality. You can find Blue Ruin right here at Vudu.
Made in 1987, Angel Heart is neo-noir psychological occult thriller about a private detective (named Harry Angel – how’s that for a neo-noir PI name?) who is hired to track down a missing singer. The search takes Harry to New Orleans, where he gets caught up in a web of voodoo, witchcraft, and intrigue. Angel Heart is a star-studded film that features Mickey Rourke in the lead, and folks like Robert De Niro, Charlotte Rampling, Lisa Bonet, Michael Higgins, and Kathleen Wilhoite in support. Bloodlust! is a 1961 cheap-and-dirty movie about a group of youngsters who find themselves stranded on a remote island with a lunatic who hunts people for sport. Like several other movies, it’s based on the Richard Connell short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” although some liberties are taken with the narrative to make it more exploitative and melodramatic. Wilton Graff does his best Vincent Price impression as the moustache-twisting hunter, and a dashing Robert Reed (AKA Mike Brady) leads the hapless tribe of prey. Check out Bloodlust! here on YouTube.
Not to be confused with the Oscar winning animated children’s feature from ten years later, Inside Out is a 2005 thriller about a neighborhood that is turned upside down when a strange doctor moves into the area in the middle of the night. This suburban mystery stars Steven Weber, Nia Peeples, Kate Walsh, and Eriq La Salle. Catch Inside Out right here at Vudu.
Half man, half monster…he’s The Manster! This 1959 sci-fi horror flick is about a reporter who is sent to interview a brilliant-yet-eccentric scientist. The scientist promptly drugs the reporter and injects him with a formula that turns him into a two-headed monster. The Manster is a fairly typical fifties creature feature, which means it’s a whole lot of fun. See The Manster – if you dare – right here at Tubi TV.
