Hey Tightwads! It’s Tuesday again, and that means it’s time for more free movies from Tightwad Terror Tuesday. Here’s this week’s batch of cheap chillers and thrifty thrillers.
The debut feature from director Adam Green, Hatchet is an old-school American slasher about a group of tourists on a “haunted swamp” tour who run into a maniacal murderer named Victor Crowley. For a debut movie from a then-unknown filmmaker, there are a surprising number of horror legends in this one, including Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, Tony Todd, and Josh Leonard. Hatchet was made in 2006, but it feels like 1983. Check it out right here at TubiTV.
Have you ever wondered what happens to the possession victim after the exorcism? Ava’s Possessions is about a formerly possessed young woman who finds herself in therapy to deal with her feelings while she tries to put her life back together. Of course, the more she recovers, the more she learns that the demon may not be completely finished with her. Made in 2015, Ava’s Possessions is a cool little horror comedy, and you can find it right here at Crackle.
Among other things, director Roman Polanski is famous for his “Apartment Trilogy” of movies. Tightwad Terror Tuesday has already brought you Repulsion and Rosemary’s Baby, now we complete the set with The Tenant. This 1976 film is about a man who rents an apartment where a young lady committed suicide. After a while, he starts to believe that his neighbors may be trying to get him to attempt to kill himself, too. The Tenant is as auteur as Polanski gets, with him not only writing and directing, but also starring in the lead role. Watch The Tenant here at TubiTV.
Weekend of Terror
Weekend of Terror is a 1970 TV movie about a pair of two-bit criminals who kidnap a girl and hold her for ransom. When she unexpectedly dies, the two crooks replace her with three vacationing nuns that they happen to run across. Yeah, it sounds like the setup for a bad joke, but Weekend of Terror is actually a pretty fun little offering from the days when TV movies were allowed to have a little guts. Robert Conrad and Lee Majors star as the two thugs. Catch Weekend of Terror right here at Daily Motion.
It goes without saying that Carrie is an adaptation of the early Stephen King novel of the same name. This is the 2002 television movie about the telekinetic girl who is ridiculed by her classmates and oppressed by her mother until she finally cracks with horrifying results. Angela Bettis has the title role in this one, with Patricia Clarkson taking on the part of the mother. This Carrie is middle ground; it’s not as good as the original Brian De Palma masterpiece, but it’s way better than the modern remake. See Carrie for yourself right here at Vudu.
