Hey Tightwads! Are you keeping dry in the midst of all of these winter storms? If you’re in one of the areas of the country where you’re stuck inside, don’t sweat it. This batch of free movies is as close as your internet browser.
Pumpkinhead is about a father whose young son is killed by a group of drunkenly negligent motorcycle-riding goons. Using instructions given to him by an old witch, the grieving father summons a demon – Pumpkinhead – to exact revenge. Made in 1988, Pumpkinhead is the directorial debut of legendary effects wizard Stan Winston, so as a creature feature, it’s pretty much essential viewing. It’s also got Lance Henriksen in it, just in case you were still on the fence. Give Pumpkinhead a watch (or a re-watch, if that’s the case) right here at TubiTV.
Speaking of creature features…Motivation Growth is a 2013 movie about a man who, while lying on the floor after a failed suicide attempt, discovers a cluster of talking mold in the corner of his bathroom. The mold starts giving the man advice that seems to turn his life around, but at what price? Motivational Growth is about as weird of a movie as you’re bound to find, so if eclectic is your thing, it’s right up your alley. Jeffrey Combs also stars as the voice of the mold. Lake Placid 2
Obviously a sequel to Lake Placid, Lake Placid 2 sees more giant alligators return to the titular lake to eat people and wreak havoc. This 2007 offering is a Sci-Fi channel original movie, and it’s got the B-cast to prove it, led by John “Bo Duke” Schneider and Cloris “Beverly Ann Stickle” Leachman. It’s not as good as the original, but Lake Placid 2 is still a ton of schlocky fun – those of you who enjoy Sharknado movies will be into it. Check out Lake Placid 2 right here at Crackle.
A Boy and His Dog
A Boy and His Dog is a 1975 post-apocalyptic movie about, well, a boy and his dog. The boy and dog communicate telepathically and make their way through the nuclear-war ravaged world until they find an underground society that seems to be thriving. However, the citizens have impure motivations for keeping the boy around. Based on a book by Harlan Ellison, A Boy and His Dog is more sci-fi than horror, but it’s still worth a watch. The dog is cute, and the boy is played by Don “Sonny Crockett” Johnson. You can find A Boy and His Dog here at ShoutFactoryTV.
What Waits Below
What Waits Below is about a group of American soldiers that is sent to investigate the disappearance of a radio transmitter that was placed in a deep cave in Central America by the U.S. military. While exploring the caves, the team discovers a tribe of indigenous albinos who have lived in the caves for thousands of year, undetected by the modern world. This 1984 campfest was based on a story by Freddie Francis and directed by Don Sharp, so it’s got an old-school, 1950s sci-fi vibe to it, yet it still screams “made in the eighties!” See What Waits Below for yourself right here at YouTube.
