The 9 Greatest Deadites in Evil Dead History

If you’re anything like the minions here at iHorror, you’re missin’ “Ash vs Evil Dead” somethin’ fierce, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a little stroll down memory lane.

While we all love Bruce Campbell and can’t wait for Pablo and Kelly to once again fill our Sunday evenings with glorious splatstick, we thought we’d switch things up a bit.

Instead of Ash one-liners, groovy kills and buckets of blood, why not offer some love to those without whom the Ghostbeaters would have to go back to stocking shelves and peddling second-rate electronics?

Though it required some very difficult cuts, here they are in all their soul-devouring glory — the finest Deadites in Evil Dead history.

9 — Lacey Emery (Pepi Sonuga, “Ash vs Evil Dead,” Season 2)

Her appearance was brief, but that doesn’t change the fact that Sonuga was given, hands down, the funniest line ever written for a Deadite.

8 — Mia (Jane Levy, Evil Dead, 2013)

Feast on this. Because Jane Levy.

7 — Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, 1987)

Yes, we’re talking Deadites, but can an Evil Dead list exist without The King? Exactly.

6 — Linda (Denise Bixler, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, 1987)

The Dance of the Give Me Some Sugar Plum Deadites. The very definition of creepy.

5 — Sheila (Embeth Davidtz, Army of Darkness, 1992)

She may have gotten real ugly, but she was a sight for sore bones.

4 — Linda (Betsy Baker, The Evil Dead, 1981)

I’ll never forget my first glimpse of Baker sitting in the doorway with those eyes. That laugh. That chant. The first in a litany of Linda’s, Baker remains best.

3 — Detective Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones, “Ash vs Evil Dead,” Season 1)

A character as badass as Amanda required a Deadite to match, and Detective Fisher did not disappoint. Though the universe is still alive and well, it will be a challenge to ever top her post-death introduction.

2 — Henrietta Knowby (Ted Raimi, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn / “Ash vs Evil Dead,” Season 2)

No introduction necessary.

1 — Cheryl Williams (Ellen Sandweiss, The Evil Dead, 1981 / “Ash vs Evil Dead,” Season 2)

Ash’s sister. Chet’s lover. Cheryl was the original. She set the standard. Ms. Sandweiss is, was and ever shall be the queen of the Evil Dead universe.

As previously stated, comprising a list just nine deep required some difficult decisions, so if you take umbrage with an omission or the rankings, feel free to share in the comments section below.
