It is probably one of the most parodied/referenced films of the last thirty years, and rightfully so. Jonathan Demme’s cinematic adaptation of Silence of the Lambs struck a cord in the hearts and minds of its audiences for years leaving an imprint of terror that is unshakeable. An imprint that comes out in other movies and television shows, helping to forever solidify its amongst the best. To celebrate our love for this film and tucked in genitals in general we present: The Ten of the Best Silence of the Lambs References in TV/Film:

Maniac (2012)

maniac-moving

How to solidify a creepy tone in your film’s first kill? Use the same music Buffalo Bill tucked his junk to. Seriously, who uses this song to dance sexy to anymore?

The Cable Guy

Carey’s character does terrible impressions of movies the entire run of The Cable Guy. It was only a matter of time before he did one of Hannibal. The scene is quick, silly, and irrelevant. Mostly including it because of how terrible of an impression it is.

PeepShow

This is the only entry where they reference the film in casual talk, and its perfect. Jez’s lack of whine knowledge comes out when he asks “Is the one Hannibal Lecter drinks real or a joke?”

The Office

I think this scene speaks for itself.

The Critic

Ah, The Critic. The shows whose snarky humor is only topped by its parodies. Their cross over preview of Honey, I Ate The Kids is one of the best in the series.

 Loaded Weapon 1

One of the more underrated parody films of he last thirty years, Loaded Weapon 1 hit every note just right in this great scene.

Dumb and Dumber

ENtANSq.jpg

Apparently Jim Carey best a majority of time in the 90’s making jokes about Silence of the Lambs. This is the best one of them all.

Joe Dirt

Lotion_Joe_Dirt

Was this scene necessary for the plot of the movie? No. Was it still one of the best parts? You betcha.

South Park

South Park has had a few Silence of the Lambs references in its long run including one of a child Hannibal helping out the police. But this scene of Cartman playing out the infamous pit scene is the best.

Clerks 2

The best of the best has to go out to Jason Mews sticking it all in Clerks 2. Because as we all know, dancing to Goodbye Horses and sticking your junk between your legs is the best way to keep away from relapsing.

Honorable Mention: The Musical

Who doesn’t love a good musical number? Had to include this as it hits every point perfectly and its in Lego!

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
