SCREAM QUEENS Gets Slashed After 2 Seasons

It looks like Scream Queens have screamed their last. The horror comedy slasher series from creator of a dozen genre shows, Ryan Murphy has officially been laid to rest. As noted in The Hollywood Reporter in an interview with FOX co-chairman and CEO Gary Newman:

Scream Queens was an anthological series,” Newman said. “It feels as if it was a compete story. We have no plans at this point to go back there and tell more stories so we won’t be seeing Scream Queens this season.”

Scream Queens experienced a drop in ratings last season, so it unfortunately was given reason to be axed.
The series mainly revolved around “The Chanels” a clique of girls played by Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd , and Abigail Breslin as they became the target of a sinister masked killer in both seasons of the show. A college campus in season one, and a hospital with a dark past in season two. With Jamie Lee Curtis as Cathy Munsch, an authority figure (college dean in season one and hospital director in season 2) that would usually come to blows with the Chanels and the killers. While the show didn’t end on any truly major cliffhangers, it would ahve been interesting to see what horror genre setting they would have shifted to in the hypothetical third season (A summer camp? A carnival? A castle).

Either way, expect these regulars to show up in other and future projects of Ryan Murphy’s. For example, Billie Lourd is already slated to star in the 7th season of American Horror Story.
