Myahhhh! Fans of the cult 80s classic cartoon rejoice! He-Man and the Masters Of The Universe is making a triumphant return much to our nostalgic delight this week with an all new episode premiering at the San Diego Comic Con! The series which ran from 1983 to 1985 is unarguably one of the most popular cartoons from the decade, and has sustained a heavy cult following even till this day.
Following the cancellation of the show, there cometh the movie that starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, and received horrific reviews from critics and fans alike. It currently stands at a pretty impressive 17% rating on Rotton Tomatoes. A few years after the massive failure of a live action movie, the series was rebooted once more in animated form in 1990 with the New Adventures of He-Man that lasted only one season, and then yet ANOTHER reboot of the cartoon in 2002 brought to you by The Cartoon Network. While these reboots weren’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen, it didn’t possess the magic that wrapped itself around the show in the early 80s.
As first reported by Metro.UK, the all new episode entitled, “The Curse Of The Three Terrors“, has the exact same look from the show we all know from our childhood. The feature-length episode of Masters is making its debut Wednesday, July 20th this week at SDCC. The team over at Super7, who specialize in retro culture, are the brains behind this magical reboot and is sure to be a highlight of the show among fans of 80s nostalgia.
