Lucy Hale to Star in Blumhouse’s Next Project, TRUTH OR DARE

Tonight’s Movie Pick Now Streaming on Netflix

Jason Blum has been lighting the horror world on fire in recent years, and 2017 may be his strongest yet. As the head of Blumhouse, he is currently enjoying extreme success thanks to both Split and Get Out. Next on his agenda is a new film starring Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale in a film titled TRUTH OR DARE.

TRUTH OR DARE is written and directed by Jeff Wadlow, who wrote and directed Kick-Ass 2 as well as 2005’s Cry_WolfHis resume also includes writing credits for numerous episodes on AMC’s Bates Motel.

According to Deadline:

The plot follows a college student in Mexico who is conned into playing a supernatural version of Truth or Dare. The game doesn’t stop and follows her back home. The screenplay was written by Wadlow, Chris Roach (Non-Stop) and Jillian Jacobs from a story by Michael Reisz and Wadlow, Roach and Jacobs.

Though we don’t have many more details, Deadline reported that TRUTH OR DARE will work under a micro-budget. But if history has told us anything, it’s that you don’t need a huge budget to create a successful horror film. To put things into perspective, 2007’s Paranormal Activity was created on a shoestring budget of only an estimated $15,000 and would go on to gross over $107,917,283 – and that’s just the first film only.

On a less extreme (and much more universally beloved) note, The Blair Witch Project grossed $140,530,114 domestically against a $60,000 budget. While the list could go on, I believe you get my point.

Though not every horror fan may be able to recognize actress Lucy Star from her Television career, you may remember her from Scream 4 as the character of Sherrie.
