While The Walking Dead has been taking some ratings hits as of late, it still currently remains the biggest show on cable not named Game of Thrones. Also popular is TWD’s spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, a prequel set earlier in the franchise’s zombie outbreak.
Awhile back, AMC announced that a character from one of those shows would soon crossover to the other, and now it’s been made official. As confirmed on last week’s episode of Talking Dead, Morgan Jones (Lennie James) is set to leave The Walking Dead after season 8 and join the cast of Fear TWD.
Morgan will join Fear TWD in next year’s season 4, but he won’t be coming alone. Also recently confirmed – via Deadline – as a new cast member is Lost veteran Maggie Grace. Details on her role are being kept close to the vest for now, but she’s set to be a series regular, so she’ll likely be a big deal to the story.
For those who may have forgotten. Grace played conceited rich girl Shannon Rutherford on Lost, a woman with a habit of manipulating others for her own benefit. Eventually she began to become a better person, and fell in love with Sayid Jarrah (Naveen Andrews), before sadly dying in season 2. She also appeared in the Taken movies, and the awful 2005 remake of The Fog, but they can’t all be winners.
In addition to James and Grace, other new cast members for Fear TWD season 4 include Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg).
A well-traveled character actor, Dillahunt played the sadistic Krug in the 2009 remake of Last House on the Left, and villainous cyborg Cromartie in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Known primarily as a comedic actress, this will represent the first notable foray into the horror genre for Elfman.
