Written by Patti Pauley

Last year we got the most glorious news for Halloween fans everywhere. Not only was Michael returning to slice and dice once more, but the man behind the Shape John Carpenter, was going to be involved and partner up with Jason Blum to give Michael Myers a fresh new film that caters to the spirit of the franchise. After that, we didn’t hear much else and was unclear even if the project was still on the right track. Well Carpenter has cleared all that up for us today friends.

Just when we thought the new Halloween film seemed like it was going to end up like the recently axed Friday the 13th, the father to Myers himself dropped a huge announcement via his public Facebook page letting fans of the franchise know that not only is the movie NOT DEAD, but has hit a huge milestone in moving forward with a statement that David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) and Danny McBride are joining the project to help helm the script with Green also in the director’s chair.

Carpenter also informed us that we get to good ol’ Mikey a lot sooner than we even anticipated at this point with the studios aiming for an October 19th, 2018 release date!

Per the iconic director’s Facebook post:

So you say you want a Revolution?
You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again?

Well so do I.

So here’s the announcement you’ve all been waiting for:

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team. David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed.

David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…WOW. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away.

I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool.

And you’ll get to see it in theaters on October 19th, 2018.

So get on the horn Haddonfield heads and tell all your friends! Myers is back!
