Oh yes. You read the title correctly. The Hollywood Reporter laid out the details today on the next beloved classic to get the 21st century makeover. The Labyrinth, which stars the very recently late David Bowie and beautiful Jennifer Connelly, was first released in 1986 and the last film to be directed by the late great Jim Henson. The whimsical fantasy world of Henson’s Labyrinth has remained a cult classic with fans thirty years deep and the thought of a remake/ reboot or sequel will either thrill your very senses or make you throw up in your mouth a little. Either way, it seems they have our attention.
The Jim Henson Company has indeed sealed a deal with TriStar Pictures to have a go at the Goblin King’s mysterious world with Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman to pen the script. Also on board is Lisa Henson (daughter of Jim) set to produce the upcoming feature. At the moment, it’s unclear if this updated version will be a direct sequel, or straight remake of the original, as the studios have declined to comment. We at iHorror will keep you updated as the news unwinds on this unexpected project.
