Welp. We may just be getting another Hellboy movie after all. However, it’s not the sequel everyone has been clamoring for; but a Hellboy reboot of the franchise altogether.
News broke tonight via the Hollywood Reporter that the demonic, wise-crackin’ hero of the comic world who was then brought to life by the horror master of the fine arts himself, Guillermo del Toro, will be making a comeback to the big screen with Millennium Studios and Dark Horse producers in negotiations with Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin to green light and breathe life back into the franchise.
Fans of the previous films may be turned off by the fact that del Toro, or Ron Perlman are not involved whatsoever in this new tale of the Hellboy-verse, but rather The Descent and Dog Soldiers director Neil Marshall is in talks to sit in the director’s chair with, get this, Stranger Things‘ David Harbour to take on the lead role as that cigar smoking Hellboy himself!
You know, I can picture this. And it is good.
According to the report, the rebooted project already has a working title, Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen with a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.
