Ghostly ‘Winchester’ One Sheet Revealed

Let’s Play – Short Horror Film of The Month

Traveling horror fans who like to visit some of the world’s most iconic places have no doubt journeyed to California’s Bay Area to explore the misshapen hallways,  weird staircases and doors to nowhere in the Winchester Mystery House.

Now fans are eagerly awaiting the film starring Helen Mirren which chronicles the real-life story of heiress Sarah Winchester in the film Winchester.

"Winchester" one sheet revealed

The one sheet was released today and by the looks of it above filmmakers are teasing, at least for now, the allegations that the mansion property was haunted rather than the infirm thinkings of its owner.

As we previously reported Winchester directors, Michael and Peter Spierig, are going to give the audience the chills they are looking for, but they also want to focus on the elusive woman who only had one known photo taken of her in her lifetime.

“Sarah Winchester is quite a remarkable woman, and the idea of her being just a crazy person who was haunted by ghosts is not the full story,” says Peter. “Helen Mirren, in particular, I think is great in portraying that.”

This will be a ghost story Michael adds, “a haunted house scary movie,” but the element of human loss is also examined in the film.

Here’s the synopsis:

Inspired by true events. On an isolated stretch of land 50 miles outside of San Francisco sits the most haunted house in the world. Built by Sarah Winchester, (Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren) heiress to the Winchester fortune, it is a house that knows no end. Constructed in an incessant twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week mania for decades, it stands seven stories tall and contains hundreds of rooms.

To the outsider it looks like a monstrous monument to a disturbed woman’s madness. But Sarah is not building for herself, for her niece (Sarah Snook) or for the brilliant Doctor Eric Price (Jason Clarke) whom she has summoned to the house. She is building a prison, an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts, and the most terrifying among them have a score to settle with the Winchesters…
