The Babadook has turned into an LGBTQ icon, and there are no signs of this phenomena slowing down. It’s now officially time to get “Babashook” courtesy of accomplished drag queen Pissi Myles.
The comedian and singer has released a new video this weekend, starring Myles as everyone’s new favorite horror icon. Myles posted a video on Friday to her Official Facebook page along with the following message:
A campy coming out song for the horror icon turned queer symbol is here, and you are not. ready.
You can watch the video below.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Myles had this to say about the new single:
it was an opportunity to really point out the camp and humor in this whole Babadook craze, while making it a song that could still be used to amp up people’s pride.
With lines like “Sit down Jason, Night night Freddy, Babashook is here and y’all aren’t ready”, the humor most definitely is there. At the same time, it’s a celebratory track, positively reveling in empowerment. You can tell that everyone involved with the making of the video was having the time of their lives during the production. The world needs more positivity – and if it comes in the form of The Babadook, I can’t say that I would complain.
You can buy the single from iTunes by following this link. If you like the track you should do just that, and share the video while you’re at it! This is the summer of the Babashook. Are you prepared?
