The CW’s Friday the 13th TV Series May Live Yet [Report]

Remember how The CW was going to have a Friday the 13th TV series, complete with Jason Voorhees? We learned earlier this year that the whole thing fell apart (as our Friday the 13th-related dreams often do), but the project may not be totally dead just yet.

Fridaythe13thFranchise.com has learned that the show’s plug hasn’t been permanently pulled as it will come up for discussion again next year. Jason Parker reports:

According to my source, the show has been shelved with a revisit planned for some time close to April 2017. At that point it will be determined by CW if they can find a story to warrant a series order. If they opt to not go with Friday The 13th at all then the show is open for a different avenue of release. Netflix has long been requested by fans as a destination that would hopefully limit the amount of studio interference.

Either way, fans still have the video game to look forward to later this year, and the next movie is still in development as far as we know. It’s very possible that the performance of these (especially the movie) will influence the direction the series takes and whether or not The CW moves forward with it.

If nothing else, that other Friday the 13th TV series is getting a special release this September. In the meantime, check out the new Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning-inspired video from Wolfie’s Just Fine. It’s pretty much the best music video ever made.
