The executives over at Syfy, the only major channel dedicated to genre programming, unfortunately spend their time making schlocky garbage rather than anything worth a damn, which is sort of a bummer when you think about it. But that’s their business model and it seems they’re sticking to it.
The network’s goal is to essentially out-stupid themselves on an annual basis, and films like Sharknado, Piranhaconda, Sharktopus, and Bermuda Tentacles are merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Syfy’s stupidity. What’s next? Well, we can certainly expect more absurd monster movies.
Fan Andrea Ricca spoofs the Syfy formula with Sharkarantula vs. Snakeorpion, a 60-second faux trailer that serves as a tribute to/parody of all the computer-generated silliness we’ve recently seen from the network – most of which has come from their partnership with “mockbuster” masters The Asylum.
Andrea pretty much nails it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she soon gets a call from Syfy.
