What an excellent day for a bit of Exorcist series news.
Fans of the critically acclaimed FOX show adapted from the horrifying William Peter Blatty literary masterpiece, and hey, myself included, couldn’t be more excited for more tales of terror with our newly favorite demon exorcising priests Father Marcus Keane and Tomas Ortega this September.
In earlier reports, we brought you the news that Geena Davis and the rest of the Rance clan would not be returning as the focal point of season two; although a cameo appearance in the second season wouldn’t be out of the question according to series creator Jeremy Slater. We also reported that Father Keane and Ortega would set their holy lights on a new family in crisis. Now, per Deadline, we have a deeper look at what we can expect from the upcoming second season of The Exorcist this Fall along with the exciting addition of a new cast member- John Cho!
According to the press release, Cho will join the series as child psychologist Andrew Kim.
“Season 2 picks up with Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with hell.”
The Exorcist season 2 possesses Fox Friday, September 29th at 9/8c.
