Danny McBride’s “Halloween” Sequel Will Fill You with Dread

It seems like every new detail about the upcoming Halloween sequel just makes me want to see it more.  First we found out that John Carpenter was involved.  Then, Jame Lee Curtis came aboard to reprise the seminal role of Laurie Strode.  Then it was announced that John Carpenter was scoring the film.

I mean, come on, they’re doing it all right.  And now, McBride has let us know that the film will do its level best to preserve the tone of the original film by relying on tension rather than gore and heavy effects.

“We’re trying to mine that dread [of the original],” McBride told the Charleston City Paper.  “Mine that tension and not just the gore and ultra-violence you see some horror movies lean on.  To us, it was all about bringing back the creep factor.”

Currently, little is known about the actual plot of the new film beyond the fact that it will ignore all of the franchise films that followed the first.  The official synopsis from IMDb, does, however hint that Laurie will finally have the chance to confront Michael face to face.

With Carpenter and Curtis involved, it could be that this is the ultimate battle that fans have always wanted, and it could certainly ease some of the hard feelings that came with the H20 fake out that found Laurie in a mental asylum at the beginning of Resurrection.

Halloween seems to be in all the right hands to make the film a success, and iHorror will continue to keep you posted on all the latest news as it becomes available.
