Forget haunted houses this Halloween season. This is the real deal. Airbnb is hosting a contest in which the winner will be able to spend the night in something much better than a plain old haunted house: Dracula’s Castle.
Yes, you read that right. You and a friend may be able to spend the night of Halloween nestled within the walls of one of the most famous castles ever built. All you need to win is an imagination and a legal age of 18 or older. From the contest’s page:
Your dark imagination and deep knowledge of vampires will prepare you well to answer this simple question: What would you say to the Count if you were to come face-to-fang with him in his own castle? Show us your vampiric wit by 11:59 p.m. CET on 26th October 2016 and you could be sleeping in his crypt as the witching hour approaches.
Not a local in Transylvania? No worries. Winners will be flown in from anywhere in the world.
The winner will be hosted by Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew (I have no idea what a grandnephew is, either). Dacre is a self-proclaimed expert on vampirism, as well as a devout advocate of his Granduncle’s novel, which is obviously Dracula. The castle that the winner will be staying in Bran Castle, former home of Vlad the Impaler, which served as the inspiration for the novel. He or she will travel to the Carpathian Mountains and stay in the fabled haunting grounds – if they’re not too afraid, that is. But maybe even better than the free lodging is the free dinner and breakfast. Eggs? Waffles? Who knows!
Explore the grounds. Learn about Transylvanian lore. Indulge in your knowledge of the undead. Just don’t go biting anyone in the process. And yes, you will be sleeping in a coffin. Still interested? If so, you can find more information about the contest here.
