If you are someone like many who suffer from Coulrophobia, the fear of clowns, I suggest caution upon reading this article any further. These are 100% true WTF horror stories based upon people dawning the clown act and taking it to the terrifying level of nightmarish reality. Sure. Thanks to movies such as IT, Clownhouse, and Poltergeist, circus clowns have been given a pretty bad rep and in reality- have instilled that fear into many people. To be fair tho, there have been evil clown shenanigans afoot before any of those movies came to the screen. In which case, inspired many of the horror movies mentioned above. Here’s an example of five horrifying and TRUE evil clown stories.

1. Klutzo the Clown

An actual photo of this guy is a bit rare, so bare that in mind when eyeballing that grainy image. While this story has no grizzly murders, it has something almost far worse and most indubitably any parent’s worst nightmare. A minister, cop and youth counselor by the name of Amon Paul Carlock Jr. entertained kids as a “Christian clown”  in various sunday schools and orphanages. He called himself Klutzo the Clown and was arrested on charges of traveling to the Philippines to have sex with kids and bringing back a camera full of child porn. Cops busted Paul Carlock, 57, at his Springfield, Illinois home. Feds found Carlock’s camera and laptop full of photos of boys playing, showering, and sitting clothed but with their genitals visible. He was then sent to jail and while awaiting trial, was tasered to death by a guard inside the jail cell.

2.Mysterious Mexican Cartel Killer

Francisco Rafael Arellano Felix, a former leader of the Tijuana Cartel, was shot in the head and the chest at a family gathering in the southern tip of the state of Baja California. The gunmen, dressed in a clown getup, approached him calmly then shot him in the head – with another bullet in the chest to finish him off. The photograph above shows the actual corpse covered in a blood-soaked sheet, lying on the floor of a grand dining room. The mad gunmen, it is said, escaped in a waiting four-wheel drive vehicle. Hopefully not to go on future killer clown rampages. Actual video was caught of the death of the Cartel leader. You can briefly spot the calm and collected clown making his approach to his prey.

3. The Murder of Marlene Warren

In May of 1990, a woman by the name of Marlene Warren received an unexpected visit at her Wellington home. She opened the door to a clown holding a bouquet of flowers with two silver balloons. Before she could even say anything, she was shot point blank with a .38 caliber revolver. The initial suspects were that of Michael Warren, the deceased’s husband; and Sheila Keen, a business partner, who was rumored to be having an affair with Michael. Despite some hefty evidence pointing towards the guilt of this crime, it wasn’t enough for a jury to convict and the murder remains unsolved to this day.

4. Zozzaby’s Ghost

In the early 1900’s, Fredrick “Zozzaby” Zozzabe was a Czechoslovakian clown who moved to Liverpool. He tragically committed suicide, but his ghost remained behind to haunt unsuspecting children. According to reports, in December of 2002, 13 year old Thomas and his 10 year old brother were sleeping in the very same room where Zozzaby had killed himself. Awoken by devilish laughter, the boys eyes fixated towards the corner of their room and caught sight of a ghostly apparition wearing a cone-shaped hat, maroon suit accessorised with a large red painted nose and white make-up on his face. He was described with dark sockets for eyes like that of a skull and was surrounded by a green aura. The ghost was laughing hysterically with one hand on his belly and the other pointing at the horrified kids. The room, filled with a stench of embalming fluid, ejected the boys from their room and ran to call their parents. The adults went to inspect but found nothing. However, according to the children’s parents, they could smell the essence of embalming fluid.

5. Pogo the Clown (John Wayne Gacy)

Ahh yes and here we are. The most infamous evil clown of them all. John Wayne Gacy a.k.a Pogo the clown. You know, the guy that originally gave the party clowns a bad name. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Gacy killed over 33 young men, burying most of them under a crawl space in his home. Interesting enough, the mystery didn’t end with his capture and then his execution in 1994. Raffle Tovar, a Des Plaines detective, claimed that he once asked Gacy about the whereabouts of his other victims. “That’s for you guys to find out,” was Gacy’s answer. Another detective also discovered that Gacy traveled to 15-20 states in the 1970s. This information opened up the possibility that there might be other bodies buried somewhere else but none have been ever found.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
